Serving pets in Leyton and surrounding areas in East London since 1974
The Midland Veterinary Surgery was established in 2001 by Brian Stenson and William Wildgoose, both of whom had worked for over 20 years in the practice, which was formerly owned by Ronald Gardner. Hence, our practice has served pets in Leyton and the surrounding areas since 1974.
We provide services for companion pets, such as cats, dogs, rabbits and other small furries, but we have an additional interest in exotic pets such as birds, reptiles and ornamental fish.
The building is a former drinking house that was converted into a veterinary surgery in the 1970s and has recently been extensively renovated. We have been a Veterinary Nurse Training Practice for many years and our Registered Veterinary Nurses are qualified to help your pet with good advice during our nurse clinics.
In 2008, the practice became an RCVS accredited small animal practice. This is a voluntary quality assurance scheme, that requires a rigorous inspection (carried out every four years) by an experienced veterinary surgeon appointed by the RCVS.
On 26 April 2018, the practice joined Independent Vetcare Ltd.
Midland Veterinary Surgery is located on the High Road, close to Leyton Midland railway station, opposite a BP petrol station and food store at the end of Fletcher Lane.
Buses 69 and 97 stop outside our door. Parking is restricted on the High Road and those to the East around Abbotts Park but there is unrestricted parking in several adjacent residential roads to the West of the High Road. There are new Pay-to-Park bays on Abbotts Park Road, Leigh Road and Fletcher Lane, in addition to the existing parking bays on the High Road opposite the practice. These operate at different times on the lower end of Abbotts Park Road and the High Road - please read the signs and follow the instructions carefully. There is a 15 minute free parking period after which a payment must be made. Payments can be made by phone or ‘virtual vouchers’ can be purchased at local stores stated on the signs. This system also uses a PayByPhone app for smart phones to simplify the process. Despite the inconvenience, this should make it easier for clients to park closer to the practice.
